Each bioPRO features our unique Bio Cell bio media; specifically designed for biofiltration. This neutrally buoyant, “high impact” polystyrene media provides a large amount of surface area that is required for healthy colonies of aerobic nitrifying bacteria. Bio Cell’s design combine self-cleaning with protected surface area, enhancing and protecting nitrifying bacteria growth. The result: a biological filter specifically engineered to deliver robust biofiltration…easy to install…easy to operate!

Features:

Optimum Filtering & Backwash
bioPRO’s are biological filters…not mechanical filters and must be positioned
after a solid waste capturing filter (pre-filters/ surface skimmer boxes). The heart of the bioPRO Filter is its Bio Cell filter media that after initial start-up (4-6 weeks) becomes home to colonies of “aerobic” nitrifying bacteria.

While a bioPRO is not a mechanical filter, it will trap solid waste that must be flushed from the filter. The key here is to keep the media
as free of rotting solid waste as possible and therefore routine cleaning (bi-weekly) is essential. To backwash, simply shut the
pump off, switch the multi-port valve to backwash, re-start the pump and watch
the solids flush from the filter.

Low-Head / High Flow Rate Operation
Use with low-RPM / Low-Amp Pumps

Easily Backwashed / Serviced
The bioPRO’s 6-Way Multi-Port Valve makes filter cleaning QUICK & SIMPLE

Optimal Biofiltering
(Designed for dense fish loads) Bio Cell Media offers a large amount of “Protected” surface area providing a safe environment for nitrifying bacteria. Bio Cell Media will not channel (Pack Down Inside the Filter).

This diagram shows a complete bioPRO installation that includes a surface-skimmer, external pump, bioPRO Filter and SMART UV. The plumbing manifold (using 3-way true-union ball valves) create a water by-pass; allowing precise flow control to the SMART UV.
